Fruit Trees
and Homemade Pest Control
Fruit trees are wonderful additions to our back yard or
properties. And there are so many different kinds
available suitable for pots and small areas too.
. . . And
nothing tastes nicer than some fresh picked juicy fruit
of your own trees.
However,
one of the biggest problems with fruit trees is that
pests and insects invade them and destroy them, and this
is why you need to be prepared with methods to treat your
fruit trees with homemade pest control.
Homemade
pest control is great for fruit trees because it is much
safer and easier on your plants than harsh chemicals and
insecticides. And you know that your fruit will not be
getting damaged and will not hurt your family because
there will not be any pesticides on it.
. . . And
it is much cheaper than most commercial pesticides on the
market. All it takes is a little effort to make
it.
Three of
Your Best Options For Homemade Pest Control On Your Fruit
Trees
There are
literally hundreds of thousands of different homemade
pest control products that you can make. Obviously the
type of pest control products that you are going to have
to make will depend on what type of fruit trees you are
growing.
1.
Tomato leaf
spray
One of the
best and most effective homemade pest controls for your
fruit trees is the tomato leaf spray, and for this you
need to soak one to two cups of chopped or mashed tomato
leaves into about two cups of water and let this soak
overnight, then strain through a cheesecloth or fine
mesh. Add about two more cups of water and put into a
bottle and spray.
2.
Garlic oil
spray
Another
great recipe is the garlic oil spray, and for this you
want to soak three ounces of finely minced garlic cloves
into two teaspoons of mineral oil, making sure to let
this soak for at least twenty-four hours. Next, you want
to slowly add about one pint of water that has
one-quarter ounce liquid soap or commercial insecticide
soap mixed into it, stir thoroughly and then strain into
a glass jar for storage.
3.
Herbal
sprays
Herbal
sprays are also very effective homemade pest controls for
your fruit trees. Herbal sprays are made by mashing or
blending one to two cups of fresh leaves with two to four
cups of water and then leaving them to soak overnight. On
the other hand, you can also make an herbal tea mixture
to use by pouring the same amount of boiling water over
two to four cups of fresh or one to two cups dried
leaves, and then leaving them to steep until the water is
cool.
When To Seek Professional Help
If it seems
that the problem has become too much and that your
methods of treatment are not being effective enough, then
it is a good idea to call in professional help. There are
various pest control companies that are available to help
you in this exact type of situation, and although this is
obviously going to cost you a bit more, it will be worth
it to keep your fruit trees healthy and
beautiful.
